Privacy policy & cookies (the “Privacy Policy”)

NUMU MARKET TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED (“Numu”, “us”, “we”, “our”) operates an online marketplace platform and search engine (the “Platform”) that helps farmers, producers, and traders (the “Seller(s)”) find buyers (the “Buyer(s)” and together with the Seller(s), the “User(s)”, “you”, “your”) through online and offline advertisements and other actions. 

This Privacy Policy defines what information we collect about you and how we use it for the purpose of the services (the “Services”) that we provide you through the Platform. 

We are bound to ensure that our business remains compliant with the provisions of the Dubai International Financial Centre (the “DIFC”) Data Protection Law no. 5 of 2020 (the “Law”) and we adopt the data protection principles set out therein. We have therefore established a program designed to ensure compliance with the Law, in particular by implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures to demonstrate that any processing of your personal information is performed in accordance with the Law. 

By using the Services, you are deemed to have agreed and consented to the collection and processing of your personal information for the purpose of providing you with the Services, in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy and in compliance with the Law. 

The information we collect and how we use it

We collect personal information from you and any devices (including mobile devices) you use when you use our Services, register for an account with us, provide us information on a web form, update or add information to your account, submit a product review, or when you otherwise correspond or communicate with us.

Your payment information 

We do not store or process your card details ourselves, they are processed and stored via our contracted third-party service provider. We encrypt your payment card details in your browser and securely transfer this data to our third-party payment provider to process a payment.

  • Take payment, and give refunds, subject to our terms and conditions of use (the “Terms of Use”). 
  • To prevent and detect fraud against either you or us.

Your contact history with us 

What you have previously said to us — for example, over the phone, on instant chat, or on social media.

Information about your phone or laptop, and how you use our website 

Information we collect when you browse our site including your IP address and device type, the browser you are using, and, if you choose to share it with us, your location data, as well as how you use our website.

You do not have to give us any of this personal information but if you do not, you may not be able to use our Services, and you are unlikely to receive our optimal overall customer experience.

Sharing your information

We do not, and will not, sell any of your personal data to any third party – including your name, address, email address or credit card information. We want to earn and maintain your trust, and we believe this is absolutely essential in order to do that. 

However, we share your data with the following categories of companies as an essential part of being able to provide our Services to you, as set out in this Privacy Policy: 

  • Companies that do things to get your purchases to you, such as payment service providers, the Sellers from whom you purchase products or the Buyers to whom you sell products themselves and any third party fulfillment partners and delivery companies they might use. Each only receives the data they need to provide the relevant service, and strictly only for that purpose. 
  • Professional service providers, such as marketing agencies, marketing system providers, advertising partners and website hosts who help us run our business.
  • Our management, employees, officers and agents on a need to know basis. 

These are the circumstances in which we may share some of your data with others: 

  • In the unlikely event that our business assets are ever sold to or purchased by another company (our data records are part of our business). We will use our reasonable endeavors to ensure that the new combined entity will follow the practices disclosed in this Privacy Policy. 
  • If we are requested by the police or a regulatory or government authority investigating illegal activities to provide information concerning your activities whilst using the network we shall do so. 
  • We may provide third parties with aggregated but anonymized information and analytics about our Users for purposes including testing, research or analytics. Before we do so, we will make sure that that the information passed does not personally identify you.

We do not share your details with third parties for any other purpose, except to other entities of the Numu group of companies. We currently have business presence in Abu Dhabi Global Market and Egypt. 

Marketing messages

If you have subscribed to receive our marketing notifications or you have created an account or ordered from us, we will send you marketing messages by email (and occasionally by post) to share with you offers and information on products to keep you aware of what we are up to and to help you see and find products. 

You can stop receiving marketing messages from us at any time: 

  • By clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in any email;
  • By contacting us.

If you request that we stop processing some or all of your personal information or you withdraw (where applicable) your consent for our use or disclosure of your personal information for purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, we might not be able to provide you all of the Services and customer support offered to our Users and authorized under this Privacy Policy.

Protecting your information

You acknowledge that the Internet is not a 100% secure medium for communication and, accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you send to us (or we send to you) via the Internet. We are not responsible for any damages which you, or others, may suffer as a result of the loss of confidentiality of such information. 

We take every precaution to protect your information. To this end all personal information stored by us is kept on a server in a secure environment. Only employees, the Sellers from whom you purchase products or the Buyers to whom you sell products, and any sub-contractors who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information.

In case of any breach of your personal information, we shall notify such breach to the commissioner who is the person appointed by the president of DIFC to administer the Law and fully cooperate with any investigation that he may carry out. In case the personal data breach results in a high risk to your security or rights, we shall communicate such breach to you as soon as practicable in the circumstances.  

How you can help us protect your information

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online in non-protected environments - for example on message boards, through email, or in chat areas - that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security solely on our systems.

Keeping your information

We will hold on to your information for as long as you have your account, or as long as needed to be able to provide the Services to you, or (in the case of any contact you may have with our “Customer Services” team) for as long as necessary to provide support related reporting and trend analysis only. 

If reasonably necessary or required to meet legal or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our Terms of Use, we may also keep hold of some of your information as required, even after you have closed your account or it is no longer needed to provide the Services to you.

Our Sellers privacy policies

We are not responsible and do not warrant or guarantee that the privacy policies of any Seller or any other companies that your personal information is passed to is compliant with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for any damages which you or others may suffer as a result of the loss of confidentiality of such information. 

In using the Platform, our Sellers (and their affiliates), agree not to: 

  • sell, exchange, disclose or transfer to any third party, any data passed to them as a result of any transaction on the Platform (e.g., personal data of any User), or permit any third party to have access to the same; 
  • send to any User any non-electronic direct mail marketing; 
  • send to any User any electronic communication except as necessary to complete a Buyer’s transaction or to respond to a customer service enquiry made by such Buyer concerning such transaction; 
  • use any domain name (or any part of it) on Numu and/or the Platform and/or otherwise in any communications that they have with any User; 
  • target unsolicited communications of any kind to any User.

By visiting the Platform website or mobile app (the “Website”) with your browser settings adjusted to allow cookies, you are consenting to Numu using cookies for the purposes outlined below in order to provide you with a fully functional shopping experience. 

Please note that in order to make full use of the Platform and to benefit from certain personalized features, your computer, tablet or mobile phone will need to be set up to accept cookies. The Website (like many other shopping websites) will not work when cookies are blocked. 

Numu uses cookies to provide you with the best user experience possible; without them we would not be able to do things such as remember your preferences or enable you to store products in your basket. As between you and us, the Privacy Policy shall apply starting from your first use of the Services and shall continue in full force and effect until the termination of the Services by either your or us.

This Privacy Policy is subject to laws of the DIFC and all disputes arising therefrom or in connection therewith shall be submitted to the courts of the DIFC.
